Sacred Lies
Genevieve Nnaji, Olu Jacobs, Nadia Buari, Desmond Elliot, Maryann Apollo, Ecow Smith Asante, Susan Peters
The sequel to Sacred Lies is called Heartless. There are four parts. Sacred Lies 1 & 2 then Heartless 1 & 2
-Story: [3 out of 5] The story was well built and progressed decently. It was not all over the place like most movies and although it had four parts there was not any unnecessary scene.
-Originality: [1 out of 5] Of course not, it’s a movie about people killing people, bad guys vs. good guys. I don’t care if you live under a rock, you must have seen a story like this before. The reverend twist is not original and neither is the female assassin twist. However, the twist and turns earned it the two points.
-Predictability: [0 out of 5] I don’t know about you but I think everyone should know how this movie will end.
-Directing/Editing: [2 out of 5] I would like to advice African movie editors to embrace a dictionary or at least Microsoft Word so that it can put the red swiggly lines under misspelt words. When I started the movie, all the names were typed right and I was like hurray. Finally. However, at the end of the first part, when they were listing the cast and just when I was about to turn the movie off and proceed to the next part I notice the character list says “Archibishop”. Some say I am too picky about little things, but how do you make a movie and not notice a misspelled word and considering that it is the first character on the list… come on now. It seems like the editor is just begging me to say something. AND I JUST DID, HA!
-Acting quality: [3 out of 5] I have got to give it to this movie for having an amazing cast, but…. You know I have to have a but too. So there’s this scene where some character comes and tells the king pin that he just intercepted a call between two government official, and I am dumbfounded. Why? Because the guy who was saying this was not only dressed like an ajegunle tout and also casted as one, he could barely speak proper english. Yet, the director expects me to believe he can hack phones. Not just any phones oh, the ones between two GOVERNMENT officials. Please, lie another lie.
-Setting and Costume: [4 out of 5] Good Work
-Video and Audio Quality [3 out of 5] It was good
-Soundtrack [2.5 out of 5] Fair
